T he Haddon Township Police Department is a full-service police department serving the citizens in and around Haddon Township, New Jersey. Our department features several sub-divisions (listed at left) who work together to provide exceptional services and safety to our citizens.

Criminal Investigation Division

The Criminal Investigation Division operates within the Haddon Township Police Department. The unit is comprised of a Lieutenant, Detective Sergeant and two Detectives. Of the unit's many responsibilities, the most significant is to review all cases and investigate every reported crime within Haddon Township. This includes crime scene operations, photography and evidence collection. The unit also investigates missing persons, conducts fingerprinting, and assists the Patrol Division and Crash Team with serious or fatal motor vehicle crashes. The C.I.D. is also responsible for identifying suspects, conducting interviews, arrests, narcotics investigations, undercover operations, surveillance and the preparation and execution of search warrants. All personnel assigned to the C.I.D. are dedicated and extremely well trained in most aspects of crime scene investigation, interview and interrogation and arrest procedures. At least one detective is available throughout the day between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, and one is on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

The Haddon Township Police Department's Criminal Investigation works closely with surrounding municipalities, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. Through these efforts, the C.I.D. has been very successful with bringing most cases to a close. Juvenile Division

Within the Haddon Township's Criminal Investigation Unit is the Juvenile Officer. In this position, the juvenile officer is responsible for investigating crimes committed by juveniles. These duties include the enforcement of tobacco, curfew and alcohol violations as well as any other substance abuse issues. He or she is also responsible for overseeing charges that are filed against a juvenile and referring to them to the appropriate judicial authority. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing direction to the juvenile and family to overcome substance abuse or truancy problems. The detective assigned is also available to the assist a juvenile who needs direction in overcoming a problem that is not a crime. The juvenile detective is routinely involved in the DARE program in our grammar schools. Additionally, the juvenile officer works closely with the School Resource Officer who is assigned to the Rohrer Middle and Haddon Township High Schools, as well as the Juvenile Unit of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Camden County Juvenile Aide Association. Through these cooperated efforts, we are assured that our children are safe both in and out of our schools.
